The Rights Circle

Great books can come from anywhere.

A global publisher-to-publisher network for discovering remarkable books beyond the familiar, connecting publishing cultures and helping books and ideas travel in many directions.

An initiative of the Intercultural Publishing Network

Why We Exist

Great books are everywhere. Visibility is not.

Remarkable books are published across languages, cultures and publishing markets around the world. Yet international publishing does not discover them equally. Language, geography, market size, resources and established networks all influence which books become visible—and which remain beyond the familiar paths of international discovery.

The Rights Circle exists to look further. We seek quality beyond the most visible markets, languages and publishing channels, creating more room for distinctive books and publishing cultures to be discovered on their own terms.

We believe international discovery becomes richer when visibility is not mistaken for value, and when publishers have the opportunity to encounter books, ideas and perspectives they might otherwise never find.

What is most visible is not necessarily what is most worth discovering.

What We Do

From discovery to circulation.

The Rights Circle helps remarkable books move beyond familiar publishing channels by bringing publishers, books and publishing cultures into meaningful connection.

Discover

Finding high-quality books that deserve wider attention beyond familiar channels.

Connect

Creating meaningful publisher-to-publisher connections across languages, cultures and markets.

Amplify

Making room for distinctive publishing voices without losing their cultural contexts.

Circulate

Helping books, knowledge and inspiration travel between publishing cultures.

A Different Way to Discover

Looking beyond what is newest, biggest or most visible.

The Rights Circle takes a considered, human approach to international rights discovery.

Quality over quantity

More books do not necessarily mean better discovery.

Discovery over novelty

What is worth discovering is not always what has just been published.

Diversity over uniformity

Publishing cultures should be encountered in their distinctiveness.

Relationships over transactions

Publishing becomes richer when relationships grow beyond individual rights deals.
