How The Rights Circle handles personal information.

Last updated: 1 August 2026

The Rights Circle respects your privacy and is committed to handling personal information responsibly and transparently. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect through our website and Expression of Interest form, why we collect it, how it may be used, and the choices available to you.

1. Who We Are

The Rights Circle is an international publisher-to-publisher initiative of the Intercultural Publishing Network (IPN), created to support international book discovery, intercultural publishing exchange and meaningful connections between publishing cultures. Personal information submitted through the website is processed by IPN.

2. Information We Collect

When you submit an Expression of Interest, we may collect your name and email address; publishing house or imprint; country, publishing markets and languages; professional role; information about your publishing identity, readers and context; information about books you introduce; and your responses about your interests, experience and potential contribution.

3. Why We Collect Your Information

We collect information to review your Expression of Interest, understand your publishing context and potential contribution, communicate about your submission, manage participation, facilitate relevant network activities, and maintain and improve The Rights Circle. Submitting an Expression of Interest does not automatically result in participation.

4. How We Use Your Information

Information is used primarily for reviewing and managing participation. We may also communicate with participating publishers about activities directly related to the Circle. We will not sell your personal information or use it for unrelated commercial marketing.

5. Book and Publishing Information

Submitting publishing or book information does not automatically make it publicly available. If information is to be presented publicly, appropriate information and permissions will be addressed as part of participation.

6. How We Share Your Information

We do not sell personal information. It may be accessed by authorised persons involved in operating the Circle and reviewing submissions, or by trusted service providers supporting the website, forms, communications or data storage.

7. How We Protect Your Information

We take reasonable organisational and technical measures to protect personal information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, alteration or disclosure.

8. How Long We Keep Your Information

We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes for which it was collected and applicable legal or administrative requirements.

9. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on applicable law, you may have rights to request access, correction or deletion, object to or restrict processing, or withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

10. Third-Party Services and Links

The website may use third-party services or contain links to external websites. Their processing may be governed by their own privacy policies.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Policy when necessary. The most recent update date will be shown at the top of this page.
