The Rights Circle
About Us
Publishing across cultures, not from one centre to the rest.
Who We Are
An initiative of the Intercultural Publishing Network
We believe international publishing becomes richer when different publishing cultures can discover one another directly. The Rights Circle creates connections that help books and ideas travel beyond their home markets, while giving publishers from diverse regions greater visibility and access to new international opportunities.
Why We Exist
Great books deserve the opportunity to travel
Great books are published everywhere, but they are not equally visible.
Every year, remarkable books are published across the world in different languages and cultural contexts. Yet many remain largely invisible beyond their home markets. The Rights Circle exists to help bridge this visibility gap and create new pathways for these works to travel.
International rights exchange begins with discovery: a book can only cross borders if someone has the opportunity to discover it.
Our Approach
Publishing across cultures, not from one centre to the rest
We approach international publishing as a multidirectional exchange between languages, cultures and markets. Publishers are active participants in shaping the global publishing landscape.
Meaningful international publishing requires dialogue, editorial judgement and sensitivity to how stories, ideas and experiences are represented across cultures.
What We Believe
Looking beyond what is newest and most visible
Great books can come from anywhere.
We look beyond bestseller lists, dominant markets and constant novelty to find high-quality books with the potential to resonate across languages and cultures.
We value quality over quantity, discovery over novelty, diversity over uniformity, and relationships over transactions.
